Germany!!! The Motherland!

Well we have arrived in Germany!!!!! THANK GOD! I feel just being in Germany that I belong. The scenery, the people the food. I do have to tell you, I am a very picky eater & France has too much weird shit. The last night we were there I had to get a rib eye. No more frilly, cheese , pate and other weird meat that I can't read what it says. The things I did eat a a lot of were Baked goods. OMG! If any of you have eaten at FreePort Bakery in Sac, think of that but twice as good! And you know what they say about the French refusing to speak English, totally true. We stayed in a little neighborhood called the Bastille. Lots of cute shops, cafés on every corner and lodes of very attractive people. The French remind me of a ballerina in the Nutcracker. Graceful, beautiful, fit, movement with intention and very proud in this beautiful background that looks almost fairytale like. Speaking of fairytale like I can't even count how many gorgeous flowing flower boxes that were hanging from every window. Do you know how you notice a color when you arrive in a city that it has a certain hue or color. Frankfort was Grey. Lots of modern buildings and high sky scrapers. Paris was white/ cream. All of the stone they use for the building looks like traverteen and the main city center is made of this stone. Lots and lots of stone. Anyway, for me the people, pace and just the energy of Germany is more of my thing. Our first stop is Baden Baden, known for there fully nude thermal baths (apparently very luxurious) & cute resort town. Think of Napa & Marin put together in a 10 block radius First of all Geoff insisted on going here. For me " all nude?" Oh uhhhh hmmm not so much. So it took two days of mentally preparing & then off we went. Of course they were closed for repairs. Geoff was very upset & the whole ideas to come to this town was for the baths. Me I was kinda relieved.... Cuz the old bodies I saw going in there. Gross! The town is very cute, very charming & we ate at the Lowenbrau (total tourist spot to mock Bavaria). The funny thing is our server got us our 1 liter beer and then walked across the street to eat/ smoke & socialize . He never came back. Thad Germany. It was kinda funny but we were hungry so we finally got service & explored the town. Germany's REI is called Jack Wolfskin (awesome name). So totally toured a around & the European sizes are like 1-2 sizes smaller. Super lame! Found a cute jacket BUT I need another jacket like I need a hole in my head. Plus we live in Las Vegas and I need a jacket like 1 month out if the year. Baden Baden was the first town ever I had stayed in a hostel. To be expected & according to our Rick Steve's Guide it's the cheapest beds in town w/ a breakfast but it's a hike. Why not? At breakfast the next morning we meet a great Italian family from the Cinqueterre which if u have ever seen sea scapes of Italy with beautiful color buildings this is it. Of course Geoff starting talkin to them in Italian telling him his Italian story. They loved him and had offered us a place to stay in Italy at the Cinqueterre when we go there. They are working on making their house. Bed and breakfast and was very a So we decided to head into the Black Forest to hang out with out Couchsurfing hosts who have a cabin that their hiking club build in the 50's. It's amazing and wish our hiking clubs had a cabin that we could retreat too?! You can see some pictures of our bunk beds and the scenery. The family we stayed with was great! We pretty much just ate huge German meals, hiked, slept and played board games for 3 days it was such a nice treat after the hussle and bussle of Paris. They had a 4 year old daughter Finney and she was so cute. She was talking to us in German (had no clue what she was saying the whole time) and he just smiled, hugged, and clapped her. She was very sweet. We also went to a local circus in the next local village like 4,000 people and i hadn't been to one in like 10+ years which was really cool and fun to see. NEXT Munich...
