First blog!!! Yikes! I've never really blogged before and I'm kinda afraid my grammar run-on sentences and spelling are going to be atrocious. But most of you know me and know that I'm well spoken... well maybe. :-D
So this is day 2 of packing. I'm starting to get a little sentimental about my life here in Marin and what exactly brought me here. I think most of it came from wanting a change the direction of my life. I had just recently broke it off with a boyfriend of four years, I graduated college and the awesome job I had was closing up shop! The direction my life was going was getting a decent job, getting married and having kids. You know the standard. But I had little life experience I feel my life was destined for something more meaningful more exciting.
I had an awesome girl friend Jane from college that was working at REI in Stockton. She liked it soo much that I thought...HEY! I could do that. BUT... not in my hometown. What if old friends from high school saw me working retail!!! It was expected that I would be an entreprenuer living on an island or something.
At this time I was living with my grandparents who were failing in health and I was cooking and cleaning for them. Which was sooo beautiful! I got to spend soo much time with them. Deciding that I wanted to work at REI I called all the REI's in California and asked it they were hiring and asked them for their fax number. So on a Friday night I sent 8 faxes to all the REI's who were actively hiring. 24hrs later I got a call from Saratoga, Chula Vista and Corte Madera. I really didn't know where any of these places were but I googled them and decided I liked Corte Madera the best. The rest is history.. I packed everything up and found a place on craigslist and have lived here ever since. May 10th will be two years and I've meet soo many good friends here (LOVE YOU SHAWNA in picture above) and it's beautiful here. I couldn't of asked for a more beautiful place to live.
Now I'm at a point in my life where I need to find some happiness again a life of purpose and passion. I need to move outside of my comfort zone and do things I would never do. Lotsa driving, being alone and talking to strangers. Thanks to my friend Jeff who has shed on some light that I can DO anything I want. Nothing is off limits! Not enough money. Not enough time. It'll all come to place.
This is something I'VE always wanted to do. Drive cross-country. I've decided. Now I'm doing. I will be tracking my travels via this blog and keep all of you informed about where I've been and where I'm going next.
Here is a link to a rough idea where I will be going. If you have friends or family that wouldn't mind housing me for a night or two in: AZ, NM, MS, GA, AL, CH, WI, MI, SD, WY, MT and ID. I will be mostly camping and living outta my car but it would be nice to sleep in a bed or couch. I ALSO will have my very sweet dog Shiya (70 lbs) so they would havta be comfortable with doggies. Thanks and I love you all. My next blog will be in Stockton before take off. First stop LA. See ya soon Fletcher, Bird and Scott.
